Actually he claims in the latest issue of MD that he performs 30 min cardio sessions (off-season).
That is true.
Even if some people are surprised. I do cardio even in during the off-season. But not as much as in contest preparation of course. Just 30 minutes in the off-season and hardly in the early morning, because I hate it.

I have to say that on the new MD cover with you and Dennis, you have the best shultern (shoulders) in bodybuilding, not just now but ever. Better even than Levrone in his prime.
Thank you for these nice words.
I love that MD cover too. Great work by Per Bernal!

what weight are you looking at coming in at for the O?
you are a beast markus, honestly, when i see you write that you train for your friends and fans, it assures me you are gonna come in at your best
keep it up
I do not really count my weight anymore. Being heavy does not always mean to be better.
But I think I will be at round about 285 lbs (130kg) again.
Mass was never my problem. My goal is to get my mass hard and sharp again. These things matter!

Hi Markus
Hows it going?
Was just looking at your O pictures from this year - amazing!
I was wondering when your dieting what does your diet look like? Are there any particular supplements you feel help you lean out / that you use before every contest?
Congrats on 8th place, thats a pretty impressive acheivement!Thank you for your nice words.
It is easier for me to say what supplements are not to use during the my contest preparation: Absolutely no milk protein and no creatin. Any other supplements like amino acids etc I keep on taking each day.
I eat more natural protein (chicken) instead of drinking too much protein shakes before a contest.

Is truth that when the was so 20 years.Have you fat?
Wanted are be always huge bodybuilder in the world?
Much bodybuilder affected film pumping iron-
You so?
Thanks Markus
No, that is not true. I was just chubby when I was a kid (until the age of 12 years).
I never wanted to become a huge bodybuilder. I started training after a football injury and I noticed that I have the skills to be successful in this bodybuilding sport.
I never asked for a IFBB pro card. They gave it to me because the German IFBB wanted me to appear at the Germany pro grand prix in 1997, because I was the most massive amateur bodybuilder in Germany ever.
Pumping Iron is a nice movie. Cult, of course. But I would never get motivated by watching a movie or by seeing some pictures.
The only thing that has motivated me during all these years is the ability to make improvements further on.

Hey Markus!
What kind of car do you drive? I ask this because last time I was in Germany, it seemed like everyone was driving a nice vehicle (much better then the French for sure). Oh and thanks for representin' Germany so well. I'm from Würzburg, Bavaria. Good day and good luck.
CPThat is a typical man's question.
During the last years I changed to following Cars:
Mercedes CLK, BMW 530d and now a Chrysler 300C.
Not too big and not too small. Gasoline is very expensive in Germany!

Hey Markus what's your favorite exercise? Also, what is your favorite muscle group to work?I do not have any favourite muscle group to train.
But if I had to choose one, then it could be triceps as long as it is a weak point and I have to work on it harder.

MArkus what are your goals for 07'? Thank youMy goals are successful placings at the Arnold's and the Olympia.
I will do my best. I cannot forecast what place I could get as long as I do not know who else will compete. And even if I knew, I would never say that loudly.

hey markus. how did you tear your chest?
I have heard a lot of rumors about this theme.
But I like to make this clear. I never tore my chest!
Usually a chest does not tear in the middle.
Maybe my chest looks different, because I was harder than the last years.
Actually I have no idea.

Welcome my German friend
Have you got yet sometimes aching elbows?
Use swathes at training?
Your shoulders are gigantic
thanks Markus
That is not so easy. I also have some problems with my elbows. Especially when I train triceps with french presses.
So I use swathes during the training to keep my elbows warm.
Otherwise I try to avoid the most painful exercises and replace them with others, until the elbows recover.

And also in ure vid ure doing legpresses with 950kg (just under 2000pounds) with a good range of motion, and u say that u go alot heaver on the offseason, whats ure record? ure doing them right, not colemans pussy fucking legpresses. U should get the cred that colemans gets for his 10cm range of motions legpresses.
hope u understand my eng,
Peace
Thank you for these nice words.
Me record is about 1100 kg on our leg press.
But this definately depends on the machine. Some machines are heavier to handle than others.

Great to have you here Big Markus. You looked huge at the Olympia this year and many of us thought you won the Austria Grand Prix.
When will your new DVD be available?
Thanks a lot!
My new DVD will be released before the Arnolds 2007.
The production company is working on it.
In the next weeks I will speak an audio commentary for the DVD.
If you like the first one, you will love the new!

ruhl, Ive never seen u doing any type of cardio on any video of yours,
do u have any photo of u like on a bike doing cardio or something?
dont know why, but it would be cool to see lol
Cardio? Sure! Walking from my car to the gym.
Just kidding. No! I hate cardio, but of course I haveto practise it during the contest preparations.
Usually I do cardio at home in the early morning...
...or I just turn off the alarm-clock and keep on sleeping. ;-)

MARKUS
How long don't training it after surgery?
I had to pause completely for 4 weeks. Then I started with low weight rehab training. After another 3-4 weeks I was able to continue my ususal workout.
Posted by Dave Germany:
It was your worst injury?
Actually yes. Some small problems can happen during all those years of training, but that was definately the worst problem.
Posted by Dave Germany:
Spoke are sometimes about training with Arnold?
thanks Markus
Training with Arnold? But not Arnold Schwarzenegger!
My first training partner's last name was Arnold. Maybe this was a bit too confusing. But "Arnold" is not an unusual name in Germany. You will hear this very often!

Markus what show will you be doing in 07
I will definately do the Arnolds and the Olympia in 2007.
I am not sure if I will do any other contest, because I already got my Olympia qualification with the third place at the Pro Grand Prix in Graz, Austria this year.

Why except year 1999 aren't on Dvd battle for the olympia?
Reflected are he should left train to the Usa or Schlierkamp?
Thanks Big Markus
I always do my contest preparation in Germany. I never travel to the USA just for training. I do all preparation here, where I get the support of my wife and my friends.
Günter Schlierkamp found his right way in the USA and became a successful athlete. But I will never move to the USA like he did.
I love the USA, but here in Germany are my family and my friends.

RRRRUUUUHHHHHLLLLL!
What music do you like to train to? I've seen you mention AC/DC before, and you've posed to Rammstein, what other music fires you up?
Also, great showing at the Olympia, I think that everyone was happy to see you come in big hard and freaky again
Actually I do not have any favourite music for the training. I have no special wishes, when I do my workout. Usually there is some techno, trance or heavy metal music in our gym. That is fine for me.
Yes, I often did my posing with music of Rammstein.
But in my private life I do not listen so often to such aggressiv sounds.
It is good for the show, but you cannot listen all day to it.

What do you say on olympia 2006?
Are very disappointed?
Sure, I was a little bit disappointed about the placing. But I was very pleased with my own shape.
Being loved by the fans is almost more important than any placing at a contest.
Furthermore the reaction and the interest of Muscular Development, who gave me a new contract, showed me, that I did everything right this year.
For this reason I promise to do always my best to appear in a freaky condition.
I train for my fans and friends, not for the judges.
Posted by Dave Germany:
What is your strongest part?
These are shoulders?
thanks Markus
I think so.

Who're your idol?Arnold schwarzenegger?
Actually I do not have any idols or role models.
Posted by Dave Germany:
Trained are sometimes with Ronny rockel?
Ronny Rockel is a very good friend of mine. But we never trained together. He lives more than 400km away in Germany, so we see each others just two or three times per year.
But then we do not talk about bodybuilding so much. There are more interesting things in life you can talk about with friends.

Ruhl,
I've heard a rumor that you eat two pounds of rice a day...? No way!
How many grams of carbs do you eat during the offseason?
Anything special you do for post workout nutrition?
Actually I really eat about two pounds rice each day, when I am preparing for a contest.
During the off season I do not take this too serious and replace some rice-meals with other tasteful things like noodles with tomato creme.
Anything special I take after the workout?
Fluid amino acids, Vitargo carbohydrates (because they are the fastest) and a lot of protein of course.
